Community groups
Raising community engagement
The PRINCIPLE Trial has been extremely grateful to have the support of many fantastic communities and organisations across the UK. These range from large religious organisations to small local community support groups.
This enormous variety in organisations both in terms of size and purpose is to ensure we can engage with as many people as possible nationwide. This also ensures we are able to engage with many groups missed by traditional trial recruitment methods.
These community groups are working to educate and inform their communities of the many options and support structures available during the pandemic.
This section includes a selection of the groups that have engaged with the PRINCIPLE Trial in order to raise awareness within their own communities.
BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha
The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha Temple in London has been an amazing example of a religious organisation actively raising awareness among their community of not only clinical trials, but mental health during lockdown.
They have been supporting their members by promoting the help available through the PRINCIPLE trial in regular sermons and distributing health information across various platforms.
British Islamic Medical Association
The PRINCIPLE Trial has been proud to work with the British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA).
BIMA have been working throughout the crisis to keep their members informed of developments around COVID-19. We are happy they have decided to endorse the PRINCIPLE Trial and encourage members to learn about and direct patients towards this National Priority Trial.
That the BIMA members are medical professionals means they are exactly who we would to engage with. Each medical professional we inform about the trial can help spread that message out among patients and their own community seeing a huge benefit from working with organisations such as BIMA.

British Geriatric Society
The British Geriatric Society strives to improve healthcare in older people, they work constantly to keep older people best informed of health options available to them and campaign constantly on their behalf.
We at the PRINCIPLE Trial are proud to be working with them to further spread information and awareness of the trial to older people from all walks of life across the entire nation.

South Asian Health Foundation
The PRINCIPLE Trial is proud to be supported by the South Asian Health Foundation (SAHF).
The SAHF are committed to helping reduce health inequalities within the South Asian communities. These communities have typically higher levels of cardiovascular and type 2 diabetes compared to the larger majority population and are also disproportionately affected by COVID-19. As such these communities require as much support as we can provide to help raise awareness and ensure everyone is aware of the health support avialable.
