Pharmacy information and resources
PRINCIPLE is proud to be partnering with pharmacies across the UK to help signpost and ensure that those most in need of the trial know that it is available to them.
Reaching out and working with pharmacies allows us to to go straight to the heart of communities across the nation and inform groups that can be extremely difficult to contact via the more traditional methods or media.
This part of our website should act as a small guide for any pharmacies interested in the working with the trial. We will keep updated with the resources here for signposting and the latest news around any partnerships with PRINCIPLE and pharmacy.
There is also a link for any pharmacies that have not yet signed up, should they decide to become an affiliate and help out the trial. Simply fill out the affiliate form linked below and the trial team will be in touch.

The RPS supports the Principle Trial, a nationwide trial led out of Oxford University to evaluate potential COVID-19 treatments for people over 50 years of age. Pharmacists can play a vital role in the design, implementation and recruitment of clinical trials.
"As Chief Scientist, I believe it is important that we encourage members of the BAME community to participate in these trials and to support the leadership of Professor Mahendra Patel in this endeavour."

PRINCIPLE pharmacy news and updates
Well Pharmacy
The PRINCIPLE Trial is proud to work along side Well Pharmacy. This unique collaboration is led by our Pharmacy lead Professor Mahendra G Patel, and will see over 750 Well Pharmacies from across the country signpost and provide information to all of their local communities about the PRINCIPLE trial.
Janice Perkins, pharmacy superintendent at Well, said: “Supporting and promoting this vital research to our patients and customers across the thousands of local communities we serve, is enormously important to us.
“We want to do all we can to help slow or halt the progression of Covid-19, particularly supporting those aged 50 and our BAME communities who are more vulnerable during these difficult times.
“I would urge any of our customers and patients or their family and friends who may be affected by Covid-19 and are eligible, to contact us and take part in this trial.”
Lloyds Pharmacy
The PRINCIPLE Trial is pleased to announce a a partnership working alongside Lloyds Pharmacy group. Lloyds will be signposting and raising awareness about the PRINCIPLE trial using its network of 1400 stores.
Commenting on the partnership, Lloydspharmacy superintendent pharmacist Steve Howard has said.
“Our extensive community pharmacy network and presence will help reach out to a wide range of communities and we hope the sector will come together to support the trial team by signposting eligible candidates to the project.
“Pharmacy plays a key part in the health and well being of their local communities and this is a huge opportunity to demonstrate what we can achieve when we all work together,”
Chemist and Druggist
The PRINCIPLE Trial was recently featured across the Chemist and Druggist platforms. This has been part of a drive to increase awareness about the PRINCIPLE trial among community pharmacists across the UK.
Pharmacists are increasingly finding themselves as a public facing representative of health care in their local communities. As such they are perfectly placed to inform all of the communities they interact with about the opportunities to help out and in turn benefit from the support of world leading research projects so we can better and more quickly investigate treatments to the current Covid-19 pandemic.
C+D editor Beth Kennedy said: “We at C+D are so proud of all the work community pharmacists have done to keep patients safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this initiative is an extension of this work.
“This is an enormously exciting opportunity for the sector, and we are delighted to be working with Dr Patel and the PRINCIPLE trial on this project.”
